Campaign finances turned in Thursday on Measure T
by Rebecca S. Bender, 5/25/2006

The groups working for and against Measure T for the June 6 election turned in their latest campaign finance disclosure statements to the Humboldt County Elections Office on Thursday.

The Humboldt Coalition for Community Rights, the proponents of Measure T, reported $9,773.05 in monetary contributions for the period of March 18 through May 20.

The biggest donations came from Garberville residents Gil Gregori and Robie Tenorio, the owners of Surfside Palms Apartments, for $750, and from self-employed physician and McKinleyville resident Erik Jansson, for $700.

A donation of $265 also came from the Surfside Palms Apartments in Garberville, bringing the year’s donations from the business and its owners Gregori and Tenorio to a total of $1,015 each.

The political action committee Local Solutions and Trinidad property manager Nick Frank both contributed $500, while McKinleyville resident and physician Ken Miller donated $349.

All other donations — the majority — were $100 and under.

Non-monetary donations to the tune of $4,696.50 came in the form of rent, brochures, auction items and data services.

The group paid out $12,585.76 for food, media production and advertising, phones and Internet service, among other things.

It owes $3,246.63 for campaign paraphernalia, literature, mailings and office expenses.

As of May 20, the ending cash balance was $563.96.

The No on Measure T Committee reported $2,503 in monetary contributions for the period of March 23 through May 25.

The group has established a $500 maximum donation limit for itself, and two $500 donations were received, from Arcata businesses O&H Industries and Granite Construction Co. All of the remaining donations were $250 and under.

Non-monetary donations — Web site registration, design and maintenance; design and printing services; and food and beverages — totaled $570.30 (though it was mistakenly underreported in the summary as $488.32).

Yard signs, bumper stickers and a print ad in Senior News cost the committee $1,610.20 (incorrectly totaled as $1,609.90 on the attached Schedule E).

It has $2,500 in outstanding bills to Adcom.

As of May 25, the ending cash balance was $906.80.

Chris Crawford, No on Measure T chair, said he would be filing an amended statement to correct the reporting errors.
