Reader would vote for Dikeman even if he were a Republican

Dear Editor,
There are just a couple of things I’d like to add to Worth Dikeman’s recent article: Don’t worry too much about Patty Berg’s endorsement of Paul Gallegos. I’ve worked with her previously on a committee and she does not study issues thoroughly before having her mind made up.
You also might have mentioned that Mr. Gallegos does not always take advantage of expert witnesses that have been asked to testify for the state. When someone flies into Humboldt County for an important trial, it’s probably worth more than two quick questions.
The community has been wondering what is going on with the Democratic Party leadership, and I expect a few people to start taking action on things soon. It would be good for the Democratic Party to reassess any previous endorsements in the district attorney race for Humboldt County and not only because it is inappropriate to endorse one Democrat over another, causing dissension in the party. Is that really a good idea?
Most Americans would like to see politics become free of crime, scandal and embarrassment, and that could start here in Humboldt County. Paul Gallegos needs to answer to the charges brought up in Worth Dikeman’s article and Patrick Riggs needs to step down from his position as party chair if he values lobbying over representing the Democratic Party as a whole.
A final note: I want an experienced prosecutor with the knowledge and integrity to do what is right — not make excuses all the time. You just can’t get a prosecutor out of a defense attorney sometimes. I’d vote for Worth Dikeman even he were a Republican.
