Paul Gallegos campaign falls short on substance
by Fred Mangels, 4/16/2006
Dear Editor,
I wouldn’t put much weight behind the endorsement of Paul Gallegos by State Attorney General Bill Lockyer. It’s just another campaign tactic used by the Gallegos folks. Nothing necessarily wrong with that.
However, about the only thing we’ve heard from them, so far, is that Gallegos is for the people and that crime is at its lowest level in the past so many years.
A district attorney has little, if anything, to do with how much crime takes place in a community, if you really think about it. Candidates of all stripes use the “I represent the people” line. Nothing solid there to campaign on, either.
Now we see someone, who probably wouldn’t recognize Gallegos if he saw him on the street, giving him a glowing endorsement. I’m not impressed, nor should you be.
It would be nice if the Gallegos campaign could come up with something a little more solid to run the campaign on because, so far, they don’t seem to have anything.
