Paul Gallegos is in a job way over his head
5/19/2006
Dear Editor,
I was born and raised in Humboldt County. I have been employed as a police officer for 23 years. I am writing this letter to educate and inform the citizens of Humboldt County on why we need a change at the District Attorney’s Office.
Since Paul Gallegos has been in office, he has personally alienated every single police officer in the county of Humboldt. A simple question to ask yourself when you cast your vote on June 6, is why are hundreds of law enforcement officers not endorsing Paul Gallegos for DA?
It is a simple reason: law enforcement officers deal with Paul Gallegos on a daily basis. They know that he is attempting to do a job way above his capabilities. He attempts to run his office with a defense attorney mindset. The problem is he does not understand the big picture; he is a prosecutor not a defense attorney. Law enforcement sees the daily lies, non-communication, dismissals, plea bargaining of cases.
I am personally appalled with Paul Gallegos’ lies to the community. One of Paul Gallegos’ lies is that he has never asked for local law enforcement officers’ support because his office may have to prosecute one of them. Why this statement appalls me is that Gallegos attempts to cover the fact that he knows that local law enforcement officers would never give him their endorsement, because they are very aware of his extremely poor job performance.
Another lie Paul Gallegos tells the community is that it is only the police unions that support Worth Dikeman. Gallegos states that many local law enforcement officers support him. Gallegos lives in a false world because local law enforcement officers make up the police union and they have voted for Worth Dikeman.
Law enforcement officers live and work in the community. Law enforcement officers care deeply for the citizens of Humboldt County. That is why the entire law enforcement community is asking that you support Worth Dikeman for Humboldt County District Attorney. Law enforcement officers have worked with Worth Dikeman for more than 20 years and he has earned their respect.
To put it simply, if Paul Gallegos were hired by a large company like General Motors, he would have been fired after three months, because they would have realized that he was way in over his head.
