Letter to the Editor
Here we go again, the defense managed to postpone the trial for Whitmill and Flares. Once again, the hard working taxpayers of Humboldt County get to foot the bill so Mr. Glen Brown at the Humboldt County Public Defenders Office can spend the next three months trying to find some way to poke holes in the prosecution's testimonies against Whitmill and Flores. Mr. Brown advertised for witnesses in the Dec. 9, 2008, edition of the Tri-City Weekly but I guess that did not work because no one showed up at the preliminary hearing to testify for them. It is just disgusting that the decent law abiding citizens of Humboldt County have to pay to defend people like this, the only thing worse is if you were a family member or knew Nicole Lynn Quigley and had to sit back and watch them do it.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge. Can someone tell me the basic details of this case?

Check out a post on the museum site. It hits the nail on the lack of legal eagles doing anything to criminals.

I do not know how this defense attorney can live with himself. What these two men have done by taking this precious little girls life is dispicable. The two women that were originaly involved in this accident should also be in jail and convicted alogside Whitmill and Flores.
Reality Check
The person who wrote the editorial had a lack of knowledge of the criminal justice system, and although may be justly frustrated, lacks the understanding of the principals and freedoms that make American great.

Another check. If letting lawbreakers loose all the time is what makes America Great then maybe we should all get on the gravy train and rob people and keep America great.
Bad DAs and judges do exist.

But that's not what the editorial was complaining about - also, you do that and see where you end up.

I'm still praying for the Quigley family. Nicole is that big shiney star in the sky.

Hey reality check, you ought to face a fasle domestic violence charge instigated by the mother of your children to have the custody of your children taken away from you. Prove in court she is lying, five times, and then have Judge Marilyn Miles behind closed doors convict you just like an acquaintance of mine experienced. His only defense is he can buy the transcrips and expose the unjust, corruption of the Humboldt County court system.
The problem is we the taxpayers foot the bill for the criminals. If you are unjustly "convicted" on hearsay and you can't afford the justice of an appeal you get to eat it.

Dear Kenny, Debbie and Family,
This is SO aggravating to me!!! I am so sorry. Please know that we're thinking of you and wishing that this court process could be expedited and the people responsible are put away forever!
We have Nicole's picture up on the wall with our other dance pictures. And yes, she IS the brightest shining star!
Love to you, Beau and Family

Jan, you are an awesome human being. If we could only transform your soul into the hearts and minds of all those who would otherwise be the genesis of such tragedies we would never, ever have to face the pain of such a loss for the remainder of time here on earth. And I mean that honestly and sincerely. You are a true gem in this community.

Bad DAs and judges do exist.
Yes they do exist and they pretend to be DA's, Judges, etc but instead they are organized criminals who have infiltrated out system to get the upper hand in their criminal ventures. Just because being bad is popular and self serving does not mean you should join.
If people join the bad guys, the problem will grow and the bad guys will win. If people follow what is right, what is good will win.
And
So discussed with the fact our system can so easily be corrupted. I was unaware of this issue with the prosecution of the bad guys. Glad your family is putting it out there and keeping everyone apprised. It makes it more difficult for people to do wrong things when light is shinned on the issue. The more interest generated by everyone the better. Hopefully people everywhere will soon realize that they all have to participate in protecting kids, even if you don't know them or the family personally. An offender charged with one crime is the same type who commits most other crimes but has yet to be caught.
Repeat offenders are just that. A crime versus an actual accident is easily determined by ones history. If only the law were followed and applied with common sense. Those with disregard for the safety of our community will be taken out of our community period. Also a note, for the most part, an offenders criminal record is public and as such can be researched. Subsequently this information can be referenced in news stories about the crime, judicial events and published in the news papers.
My sincere sadness to your family and to all dealing with the loss of a child- I can't even handle writing about it. There is nothing that can be said to make it better.
I hope that this story is shared with as many people as possible. God bless you and yours-
Eurekan
Geevo, last year two cars were racing at about 100 mph and as a result, a little girl, Nicole was killed due to their dangerous and reckless behavior. Her mother was seriously injured as well. To compound the grief, one of the cars that was racing left the scene. Car and driver were subsequently found. The other car went off the road or those cowards would probably have left as well. We have a place to race legally. These irresponsible and dangerous people had no reason to do what they did, and now the Quigley family is left to suffer without their little Nicole.

Don't forget one of those who left the scene of the crime could not be confirmed to be under the influence and his passenger defaced his Mustang to deceive detection. These people knew full and well they were responsible for the death of a young girl. A child. And instead of turning themselves in they attempted to hide their irresponsible actions. Coupled by the fact they had priors, they should be put away for a very, very long time.
Unfortunately the liberals in this area vote in the judges and the District Attorney who represent justice in Humboldt County. Therein lies the problem.
Questions
I want to make distinction between the driver and the passenger...should this person (the passenger) also receive the same punishment? do we know if he was relishing the recklessness, or was he scared to death? I kind of feel for this person, he to is a victim of circumstance...of course not to the extent as the quigley family, but I think there needs to be some distinction between the driver and the passenger. Who is at fault?

Thank you Eurekan, reader, and Ashley Quigley for the background and info on the tragedy of Nicole. Whatever the penalties handed out, it won't be enough.

To the District Attorney's office...Don't let them off the hook AGAIN....it's all the druggies that infest our community that YOU continue to let loose that caused this tragedy!!! You need to explain to upstanding, tax paying, family oriented NORMAL community members why you aren't prosectuting the woman who painted Flores' car or the Whitmill woman who lied about driving the vehicle who cause this!!! What is wrong with YOU Gallegos????

That has happened to us, too...Judge Miles doesn't know what she's doing and unless you have the money, you never get justice!
