Homicide suspect returned to Humboldt County

A man already in prison on an unrelated matter was returned to Humboldt County on Wednesday to face allegations that he stabbed Trevvor James Davenport to death in 2006.

According to the Humboldt County booking sheet dated Feb. 25, William Frank Whipple, 20, was returned to the jail sometime Wednesday.

Eureka police announced earlier this week that an arrest warrant was issued for Whipple, who was serving time at Folsom Prison.
Davenport's body was found on the 200 block of L Street on April 30, 2006.

Police are still asking for help from anyone who may have information on the killing.

”The investigation revealed several sources who knew details about the murder,” stated an EPD press release. “Their silence delayed relevant information from coming to light in a timely manner.”

Police said they will be seeking a special enhancement, alleging that the killing was “gang-related.”

People who have information on the case are asked to call EPD Detective Terry Liles at 441-4032.
