◼ Arcata Police Department awaits home invasion suspect extradition from Texas
The Arcata Police Department is waiting for the extradition of a man believed to be responsible for a home invasion last month.
Authorities from the United States Marshals Service and the Dallas Police Department arrested Dwayne Patrick Lamont, 23, in Dallas, Texas, Wednesday on a felony warrant for charges of vehicle theft and a drug offense unrelated to the home invasion, according to APD.
Lamont is a suspect in a home invasion on the 1500 block of 11th street in Arcata. Two associates and Lamont allegedly assaulted and robbed three people who were going to sell them marijuana.
Lamont is in custody in Dallas and authorities are looking to extradite him to California.
APD Chief Tom Chapman said he is unsure when Lamont will be transported, but said Lamont remains a suspect. Lamont was identified by an associate of one of the three victims.
The other two suspects have not been identified, so APD is not releasing the circumstances about how they found Lamont's location.
”They have not been identified, and we're still pursuing a couple of leads to determine their identity,” Chapman said.
